Succession planning at Daetwyler-Hell Iberica S.L.
A change in management is happening at Daetwyler-Hell Iberia in the fall of 2021. The new General Manager Javier Ortega Gàlvez visited and introduced himself at our headquarters in Bleienbach.

MDC AQUA PURE Cleaner - The water-based solution
With the existing MDC Anilox Cleaner, we have succeeded in establishing a solvent-based deep cleaner for all chrome and ceramic anilox rolls in gravure and flexographic printing applications. The deep cleaning is important so that the full pick-up volume of all chrome and ceramic anilox rolls can be achieved.
In order to meet market requirements and customer needs, we have now developed a new cleaner called MDC Aqua Pure Cleaner. As the name suggests, the MDC Aqua Pure Cleaner is water-based and offers the customer a gentle and effective deep cleaning of all chrome and ceramic anilox rolls. A major advantage is that the new cleaner is non-hazardous: it can therefore be easily shipped around the world by truck, air, and sea freight. Furthermore, the new cleaner is safe on aluminum and removes all common ink and varnish contaminants.
The MDC Aqua Pure Cleaner optimally complements the existing range and enables us to enter new target markets. The MDC Aqua Pure Cleaner was launched in June 2020 and has already achieved initial sales success.
MDC END SEALS – The End Seals jungle has come to an end
End seals are a complementary product for doctor blades. The end seals are required for the flexographic printing process in order to seal the chamber doctor blade system cleanly and to prevent the paint from escaping. Together with the doctor blades, the end seals form a necessary part of the chamber doctor blade system. Both act by contact with the anilox roller as wear parts and affect the system of ink transfer and each other. In this context, a new concept for end seals was developed. Here, the MDC End seals are divided in three different quality and price levels according to the material properties and are offered to the customers according to their running time and MDC doctor blade quality used. The three quality levels have the following designations: MDC Regular, MDC Advanced and MDC Expert.
The distribution partners are informed about all available dimensions and materials by the developed MDC End Seals booklet. The MDC End Seals Booklet is intended to serve as a tool to facilitate communication between Daetwyler SwissTec and its distributors, as well as between distributors and end users. With this concept, Daetwyler SwissTec creates a standard that helps customers out of the jungle of end seals and offers a fitting solution for MDC end seals for the already used MDC doctor blades.
The diamonds of SwissTec
The heart of the machine consists of a high-precision diamond tool, used for milling the gravure cylinders. It is in the diamond shop (also known as «Diamanti») where we develop and produce these tools. Working on the diamond tools takes years of experience and a lot of know-how.
The diamond tools are created with grinding and lapping machines that were developed in-house. Each supplied Polishmaster comes with 12 precision-milling cartridges and 10 pre-milling tools. The customer can cover an area of approx. 200 – 300 m2 with one tool.
Shipping of resharpening tools occurs via a worldwide distributor network. When tools arrive at the diamond shop, they are immediately checked for any damage. If the diamond tool cannot be resharpened, we replace it. Various work steps are required to offer the customer a high-precision tool. Tools are adjusted to 0.2 micron. If the customer demands an analysis, we can provide one based on an identical machine. Prior to shipping, each tool is checked via a microscope for damage or flaws.
These high-precision tools are shipped in a custom-made box. The Diamond shop handles the order process from start to finish. The entire team has been working passionately in the world of diamonds for many years. We value flexibility, quality, and on-time delivery.
