The Daetwyler Group is continuing to extend its product portfolio. With the acquisition of the privately held company Cheshire, Daetwyler is taking another step in its continuous growth strategy and strengthening its leading role in the printing industry.

The core of the investment is the anilox rollers, which ideally complement the existing product portfolio: Daetwyler Swisstec AG is known worldwide as the market leader in doctor blades, together with Rotoflex AG, which develops and distributes inks and coatings for flexible packaging and security applications.

Through the acquisition, we are expanding our technological expertise and thus creating tangible advantages for our customers. This acquisition is an important step in reliably meeting future requirements and actively driving the development of the industry.

Cheshire will be integrated into the Daetwyler Group as an independent company. The entire workforce and the existing corporate structure will remain in place even after the integration into the Daetwyler Group.

Sonia Arcos, Managing Director, Cheshire: "The integration into Daetwyler's global sales structure is an important step for Cheshire. Together, we can open up new markets and expand our expertise with anilox rollers, doctor blades, inks and coatings in a targeted manner.

Currently, Cheshire's main markets are England and the EU. In order to serve the largest market for anilox rollers locally in the future, Cheshire's know-how will be used to gradually set up production for anilox rollers in the USA.

This investment marks a significant milestone and strengthens the Group’s position as a unique competence centre for the pressroom. Together, we pursue the shared goal of being a trusted and strategic partner providing high-quality anilox rolls, inks, and doctor blades to our customers worldwide.

Ralph Daetwyler welcomed the participants from Australia, China, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. At the start, our long-standing sales partners were personally recognized with a certificate for their loyalty and collaboration. Presentations by Thomas Rother, Olaf Segbert, and our Asia-based technical team – Nathan Clarke, Clinton Lovell, and Cameron McIntosh – provided insights into the latest developments in gravure and flexo printing.

Guest speakers from Janoschka Asia-Pacific and Interprint Malaysia shared trends from the packaging and decor industries. Our new partners Colorblend, Rieckermann, and Stripsteel also introduced themselves.

The meeting concluded with site visits at Janoschka and Interprint, offering participants valuable insights into local production processes.

The meeting provided a valuable platform for knowledge sharing, personal interactions, and the strengthening of long-term partnerships. August 27th, Beijing – To celebrate outstanding business achievements of Swiss companies in China and mark the 75th Anniversary of Sino-Swiss bilateral relations, the biannual Sino-Swiss Business Awards announced this year’s winners in five award categories during an exclusive gala evening. Organized by SwissCham China, in partnership with the Embassy of Switzerland in China, the event welcomed over 400 distinguished guests, including H.E. Andrea Caroni, President of the Swiss Council of States, Jürg Burri, Ambassador of Switzerland to the People’s Republic of China, Mongolia and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, top political and business leaders from both Switzerland and China.

Since its inception in 2013, the Sino-Swiss Business Awards have recognized Swiss and Chinese companies making significant contributions to the dynamic business partnership between the two countries. Now in its seventh edition, the 2025 SSBA continues to highlight exceptional Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) as well as large corporations that have made remarkable achievements in fostering innovation, driving sustainability, embracing digital transformation, promoting talent development and strengthening business collaborations within the Sino-Swiss community.

Daetwyler Shanghai Co., Ltd., our subsidiary in China won the Legacy Award, honoring companies with a strong Swiss identity—either Swiss-owned or Swiss-managed—that have operated continuously in China for more than 20 years. These businesses represent the enduring spirit of cooperation and long-term commitment between the two nations.

Joseph Shi, as a representative of the company, went to Beijing to collect this Award. On site, he gave a brief sharing with the attending representatives. As a market leader in the printing industry, our products entered the Chinese market in the 1980s and established a factory in Shanghai in 2002. Today, our MDC doctor blades become a market leader in China and even globally. Our products have been sold in China over 40 years, and we are proud to witness the outstanding achievements of Sino-Swiss economic cooperation and to celebrate the spirit of partnership and long-term commitment between enterprises of both countries.

We had the chance to witness the training spectacle of the Patrouille Suisse from up close. The precision of the jets flying in perfect formation and the intensity of the sound were truly impressive.

At Daetwyler, precision is also at the core of what we do – our doctor blades ensure consistent and flawless results in printing, just as the Patrouille Suisse relies on accuracy and teamwork in the sky. But what truly makes us strong is our culture of working together. As a family-owned company, we place great value on collaboration, appreciation, and trust – across teams and across borders. Experiences like these remind us that innovation and excellence are not only part of our products but also part of our culture. 

We had the pleasure of welcoming our valued sales partners for two intensive days focused on products, markets, and innovation.

The first day started at 8:30 a.m. with a packed agenda: current market insights from Italy and Germany, new findings on MDC LONGLIFE PRO, the potential of our doctor blade business, and an outlook on 2026. As an innovation highlight, we presented our ongoing activities in the paper industry. Creping blades – a product with promising potential for our partners. Another key moment was the presentation by Rotoflex AG, which has played a central role in inks and coatings for packaging printing and security applications for over 50 years.

The second day took place at the premises of Daetwyler SwissTec AG. We began by personally honoring our long-standing sales partners with a certificate in recognition of their loyalty and cooperation.

A factory tour followed with several stops. Peter Daetwyler gave a retrospective on the development of the family business – from its beginnings in aircraft construction to today’s global presence. In our in-house FliegerMuseum Oberaargau, rare exhibits offered fascinating insights. For the first time, we also opened the doors to our quality control department. There, we demonstrated how precisely every micron is inspected – because only 100% controlled products leave our facility. The visit concluded with a tour of our new state-of-the-art production hall for creping blades – another important step in expanding into new markets.

We are pleased that we were able to take our partners on a journey into the world of the Daetwyler Group through a diverse and engaging program.

For three decades, Markus Resing, Deputy Head of Marketing & Sales, has contributed his extensive expertise to the printing industry. As a true team player and reliable point of contact, he supports not only our customers but also Daetwyler SwissTec’s global sales network. His regular travels to partners and production sites around the world are an integral part of his work – accompanied by exciting projects in mechanical engineering as well as support in the marketing and sales of doctor blades.

Daetwyler SwissTec AG has introduced a new vacuum evaporator that efficiently reduces wastewater and lowers disposal costs. This investment demonstrates our commitment to sustainable production and environmental protection.

Daetwyler SwissTec AG has taken a significant step towards sustainable wastewater treatment: the introduction of a new vacuum evaporator. The system not only improves our production processes, but also underlines our commitment to environmental protection and cost efficiency. The advantages of our new vacuum evaporator are many:

• Cost-effectiveness: Reducing the amount of wastewater by 90 percent means significant savings in disposal costs.

• Environmental protection: By reducing the amount of wastewater, we make a valuable contribution to environmental protection and meet the requirements of water protection.

• Technological innovation: The use of state-of-the-art technology in the new evaporator improves our production processes and demonstrates our commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.

With the successful implementation of the new vacuum evaporator, we are well equipped to meet the increasing requirements of environmental protection and at the same time make our production even more efficient. This measure is a further step in our long-term strategy of reconciling economic success and environmental responsibility.
